Update

Been a while since I'v posted anything, so I figuired I'd give everyone a little update in the life of David.

The eldar are coming along great, not *alot* more painted, but still a conciderable amount. I just got some new models, which include a Fire prism, D-cannon, 2 Warwalkers, and a 8 man storm guardian squad. I am very happy with these recent purchases for several reasons. One, alot of it(storm guardians, warwalkers, d-cannon) I can yous in my USF(Ulthwe Strike Force) army, and Two I like the extra heavy support!

The marines....what can I say about these funky dudes....Still have'nt picked a colour scheme that I like...nuff said

The Guard have also taken a back seat. I'v lost intrest in them for the time being... so nothing intresting there.

In other news, I'v been totaly addicted to a Game called Starcraft(SC). SC is a real time strategy game with three predominant races, the Terran(space-esq humans) Zerg(thing starship trooper bugs) and Protoss( think....well eldar :)) I play online with a few freinds, I definatly recommand this game, and its easy on your comp(ram, memory ect.)

Thats all for now, Cheers!

Religion

Is it ok to want to change Religion?

Im a Roman Catholic by birth, and was baptised in a Catholic church. The thing is, I dont know if I want to be a Catholic. Im very confused at this point in time. The trouble im having is that I don't know how to explain this to people I care about(who BTW are all catholic). I do believe in a higher power, a spirit world, and that when we die we do go somewhere else. I just don't know how to express this in a sense that makes sense to me...

Something to think about.

The Guitar

Well my parents got there tax returns..... Both over 2G. So I get a Guitar!
Right now Im looking at a nice Electric guitar that comes with an amp.
Im very Excited....

The Learning curve...

...And a very steep one at that. I played a few games with my 101st in the last couple weeks. I have found that my units come in about 50% second turn and 50% third turn, and that each 'half' get blown up before the supporting half show up. I've tried to think up ways of solving this problem, and came up with a few. First I am adding a couple of foot slogging sentinel, this are going to stay behind cover most of the game, and at the end try to take objectives. The main reason for these fellows is to equip them with improved comms, which will allow me to re roll two reserve rolls a turn. Secondly more versatility, I find that my squad with lascannon lands in front of a huge squad of guardians, while my heavybolter squad lands informs of a falcon...Not very helpful! So to help counter this I am equipping each squad with a vet with a bolter, a grenade launcher and a missile launcher. This way if the squad survives the initial drop they may be able to hold there own. I also equipped the command squads with 4 special weapons, 4 flamers, 4 meltas ect. To add a punch to this squads.

Doctrines, as my army are an airborne division, the DropTroops doctrine was the first for obvious reasons. The other four I had to think about. I decided on, special weapons teams, iron discipline, sharshooters, and armor. As each unit could possible be operating by them selves for several turns(randomized deepstrikes), I needed each to be able to stand as long as possible. So each doctrine represents that. Iron diciplan will insure the unit doesnt run away as often, with pretty much no where to run to, this shows there fight to the last man, alamo stlye situation. Sharpshooters was taking because of the extra trainning the airbourn units would have going threw, learing to drop from the sky, and most likly us there weapons effectivly. Then I choose armor so that the units may stay around a little longer, and that they still get a save from rapid firing bolters, and small arms fire. This represents the extra equipment they would carry because they would be alone for so long. I took special weapons teams because of the 2melta guns + satchel charge array. This unit will hopefully bring devastation to units of tanks and infantry alike, so basically this guys are my forlorn hope type units. This brings my base cost to about 9 points each with out upgrades, hopefully this will pay of.

Rangers lead the way!

So I have been trying to concentrate on getting some work done on my Imperial guard army. For those of you that don't know, my army is called The 101st Cadian airborne Rangers. Largely based on the American 101st airborne division as well as the US Army Rangers. There was three main inspirations for my army, and I try to incorporate a little bit of each into the appearance and the way I play the army. The first being the novel Band of Brothers, which is about the 101st airborne operations in WWII, more specifically Easy(or E) company. This is incorporated in the army in the largest way. The army was given the drop troop doctine and have tiny spades painted on there helmets, as well as officers being names form those in E company. The second inspiration was from one of my favorite all time movies, Black Hawk Down. My army incorporates lots of storm troopers and carapace armory as well as the veteran doctrines. This gives an elite feel to the army, such as the US army rangers. The last inspiration to my army was a Game, First to Fight, more specifically one of the available options in the Game, mortar and sniper support. I have included 2 mortar teams in my army as well as infiltrating(light infantry) squads equipped with sniper rifles this are my Path finders.

Concept!

I have thought up a concept for my Ulthwe Strike Force eldar army. It will be based largely on the feudal Japanese culture. This to me fits in with the USF concept. Highly trained, highly skilled warriors bursting out of the webway to better there opponents in hand to hand combat. This represents elite samurai or Ninja appearing out of no where to defeat there opponent in the darkness of the night.

This culture will be brought into my army in a few subtle ways. One the vehicles and warwalkers(and banners of course) will have expressions like bravery, courage, steadfastness, painted on them in Japanese calligraphy. The storm guardians will have bandannas and katanas, the defender guardians wicker breastplates.

that's it for now, I gotta go do more research, thanks a lot!

The Eldar

A freind of mine, posted his thoughts on the new Codex: Eldar being released for Warhammer 40,00. In this post I want to add my thoughts.

The Reason I do eldar. I started an eldar army for a few reasons. The one major one being my idea of the eldar. I see them as sort of a fuetil japanese culture. With warriors such as the samuri, expert swordsman and tacticions, but relativly few in number. They spend there entire lives fallowing ''the path'' and mastering it to perfection. Take the howling banshees for example, swift, cunning, deadly, but unable to hold up in a battle of attririon. On the flip side you have the Striking Scorpions, massive numbers of attacks, tough, strong, but there armour alows them to fend of all but the mighteist blows.

The other thing that attracts me to the Eldar race is there secrative nature. No one knows much about what there doing, or wich side they'll take in a fight. Any secret motives they may have, and where there alligency truely lies.In game terms this allows for players to make background 'fluff' for there armies like no other, and also explain why they might fight with unexpected allies.

Well thats it for now, Hope you enjoyed!
